21 December 2007:
The next version of the Balance Mod has been posted. Version 1.12 fixes a couple of bugs, makes
a few changes to how seeker attributes are determined, as well as adding some support for AI diplomacy within Alliances and
a number of improvements to AI fleet activities. It's also save game compatible with v1.10/v1.11 games and should be used
with the latest SE:V patch. The download can be found HERE.
19 December 2007:
Malfador Machinations has posted the v1.66 patch for Space Empires V. It features a number of
fixes and allows the map compiler to be used with mods. You can download the patch
HERE. Your v1.10/1.11 Balance Mod games
should have no trouble with the new patch. Look for v1.12 of the Balance Mod very soon!
13 November 2007:
A new patch is available for Space Empires V. Version 1.63 includes the usual bug fixes,
plus some improvements to cargo handling and new formula functions for the data files. You can find the download for
the patch HERE. It's completely compatible
with v1.11 of the Balance Mod and v1.09 for PBW.
28 October 2007:
There's a new version of the Balance Mod available. Version 1.11 is the latest version
and has a number of important fixes for v1.10 bugs, plus a few other changes and upgrades. It's save game
compatible with your v1.10 games. The download can be found HERE. The
next version will focus on implementing alliance diplomacy for the AI along with some other AI improvements.
23 October 2007:
I've posted a patch for v1.09 of the Balance Mod that will allow it to be used with the v1.58 patch for
SE:V. It's primarily intended for v1.09 PBW games, but it does have an AI update for those that wish to carry v1.09 Balance Mod
save games to the v1.58 SE:V patch. You can find it
the download HERE. The v1.11 patch of the Balance Mod should be along in a few days. It features
a number of bug fixes and tweaks for the current 1.10 version.
14 October 2007:
I've posted v1.10 of the Balance Mod for download. The latest update is an extensive revision with many fixes and changes for
both the AI and data files. Please note that v1.10 requires SE:V v1.58 and is not save game compatible with previous Balance Mod games. You can find
the download HERE. A small update to make v1.09 compatible with the latest SE:V patch will be available
in about a week or so.
12 October 2007:
A new patch is available for Space Empires V! Version 1.58 offers a ton of bug fixes, new features, and a small
handful of interface improvements. You can find the patch HERE. I'm tying
up a few loose ends for v1.10 of the Balance Mod. It should be available shortly.
22 September 2007:
I've added a new section to the site for my new SE:V mod project - Captain Kwok's Space Empires Nova. Simply put, the
new mod is simply how I think the Space Empires universe ought to be. There's no definite timeline for a playable version, but I'll be sure to
keep interested players in the loop. Check out the Space Empires Nova page for more details
15 September 2007:
Just a small note to let players know that v1.10 of the Balance Mod is coming along nicely. The current version history has over
70 entries, including fixes, new items, and lots of AI improvements. The v1.10 update should be released around the same time that the
next patch for SE:V arrives. If you have bug reports or suggestions, use the contact information below to send me a message.

I've added a couple new Balance Mod resources. One is a Balance Mod help page that provides information about installation
and adding items to the mod. The second page contains some Balance Mod FAQs that cover different items in the mod. I'd like to update both
pages regularly based on the feedback from SE:V players.

Greetings. An AI patch has been posted for v1.09 of the Balance Mod. It fixes a number of items including AI team
mode, AI resupply, and AIs not surrendering. There were also a few small fixes for some AI races that were sometimes designing ships without
weapons. Before you install the patch, be sure you have SE:V v1.44 and Balance Mod v1.09 installed! Grab the AI patch
27 July 2007:
An update for the Balance Mod is now available. The new v1.09 focuses on AI improvements and some
adjustments to the intel system. There's also a number of little fixes and a couple tweaks to round off the changes. Download v1.09 from
the Balance Mod webpage HERE. Note v1.09 requires the latest SE:V patch!
24 July 2007:
I'm back from vacation and looking forward to getting back on track with Space Empires. While I was away, the patch
for SE:V v1.44 was released. You can find it HERE. I'll have
an updated version of the Balance Mod (v1.09) out in a few days.

I'm away on holiday until July 24th. I won't really have internet access until July 16th. I might be able to post a
patch (v1.09) for the mod around then if MM releases the next SE:V patch. If not, you'll have to wait another week.

The next version of the Balance Mod has been posted! Changes for v1.08 focused on improving weapon and
racial trait balance along with some changes to ship/fleet experience and more AI improvements. You can download v1.08 from the Balance Mod

An update for the Balance Mod has been released. Version 1.07 of the mod continues to focus on AI improvements, including
changes to the AI's design types and weapon selection. The new version also introduces a new leaky intel system as well. You can download

09 May 2007:
The next patch for Space Empires V is available. The patch will update SE:V to v1.35 and contains
a number of fixes including the memory leak and a couple of bugs introduced with the last patch. Download the v1.35 patch from Strategy First
HERE. There will be an update for the Balance Mod
by the end of the week.
27 April 2007:
An update to v1.06 of the Balance Mod has been posted. This version focuses on improvements to the AI's ministers
responsible for managing colonies and population. You can also download an updated version of the Balance Mod Tech Chart, fully updated with

25 March 2007:
The next version of the Balance Mod has been posted for download. The v1.05 update has a number of
changes to research costs and a few tweaks to the tech tree, along with the usual fixes and AI improvements. It also incorporates
the lastest version of FQM. Please note that this version is not save game compatible with earlier versions. Grab the download

The next patch for Space Empires V is available. This patch will update SE:V to v1.33

Greetings! A few weeks later than originally planned, but v1.04 of the Balance Mod is now
available. Lots of little data file fixes and tweaks, AI improvements, and the addition of FQM are some of the highlights
for this update. Look for a quick update to v1.05 with the next SE:V patch. Until then, you can grab v1.04 of the mod
