The recent introduction of the Caretaker class Space Yard Ship has allowed the Xiati to supplement its defensive capabilities at strategic warp points with remote defense bases and the ability to retrofit ships outside of planetary space yards.
After the capture of Sirius V in 2434.5, the Sirius Attack Fleet has been charged with protecting the newly captured colony from EEE and Cue Cappa forces in the Sirius system. The Cue Cappa have launched several bids to re-capture the planet, most notably in 2424.0 when a Cue Cappa Fleet (2xDEs,3xLCs,5xCRs,1xBB,2xDNs,1xMF,1xLF) attacked the planet and again in 2424.5 when a smaller Cue Cappa fleet (3xDEs,3xCRs,1xBB,1xMF) took advantage of the Sirius Attack fleet's absence. In both battles, the Cue Cappa were destroyed with only minor damage to the surface.
The Xiati continue to build up forces in the Sirius system, supported mainly from the neighbouring Fezzran and Lezzari systems. The system has 4 other colonies, split between the EEE and Cue Cappa, but all are heavily defended with either ships or scores of weapon platforms. The primary Xiati goal in the system is to block off the southern warp point from the Andross system, which would effectively cut the EEE and Cue Cappa empires sparse northern colonies off from their base in the southern systems. Once cut off, Emperor Tax'renath is confident his Xiati forces can move further north into former Sergetti space, where the EEE and Cue Cappa colonies are weaker and less developed.
After the Lezzari Defense Fleet destroyed a Norak invasion fleet from the Quesstriss system at Lezzari I in 2424.4, it quickly moved north into the Quesstriss neutron star system and with Charger class boarding ships that took several remote resource ships of the Norak and Jraenar empires. Making a blockade at the Quesstriss-Bebblebrox warp point the system has been prevented, at least temporarily, from passing reinforcements into the western Drax system. Plans to push the Eskirk Defense Fleet from the west into Drax will cut off that system and allow for Xiati forces to eventually take Phong, Jraenar and Norak colonies in that system. Once the Drax and Quesstriss systems are secured, they can be more easily defended from attack as connecting systems are sparse with few enemy colonies to support significant fleet logistics.
The western systems of Ventrux and Fornax have come under direct threat from both Norak and Phong forces coming from the north west via the Bespin system. In 2424.4, the Norak destroyed the 61 strong Ventrux-Bespin WP satellite defenses losing only 3 of 15 ships. With the Norak fleet holding the warp point, a Phong Fleet supported with two carriers entered the Ventrux system and into the Fornax system destorying the Fornax-Ventrux satellite defense group. In 2424.9, the Fornax Defense Fleet (3xDEs,7xLCs,4xCRs,1xBB) caught up to the Phong Fleet (5xCRs,3xBBs,2xCXs,7xDRs,90xFtrs,2xMFs,1xLF) and engaged it in open space. With support of the Fornax system Events Predictor, the Xiati fleet was able to rout the Phong Fleet with the loss of only 1 Striker class light cruiser.
With two warp point defenses breached and only the relatively small Fornax Defense Fleet readily available, it will be difficult to control enemy ships from at least entering the Ventrux or Fornax systems for the immediate future. One of the two fleets in the southern Drepana system may have to be recalled.
Plans to invade the recently exposed Dussullet system in the far south from Lacerta have been postponed. Resources for the invasion have been moved towards Eskirk with the aim of taking Drax, a more significantly system to secure the norther frontier. Instead, the Lacerta Defense Fleet will contain to hold the warp point. In fact, Emperor Tax'renath is currently content with projecting Xiati strength in the south, with fleets cutting off the Lylat, Drepana and Reticulum systems from enemy fleet activites although leaving their existing colonies unharmed. Many of the Ukra-Tal, EEE and Cue Cappa colonies in the region are heavily defended and any attacks would certainly cost many ships and exposeXiati systems to counterattacks. Over the last year, both the Ukra-Tal and Phong have attempted to move large fleets back into these systems but have failed.
Not much has changed in the last year, but the Sergetti Empire remains holed up in its final colony, far removed from the bulk of the quadrant. This at least might provide the Sergetti some time before their eventual destruction. The Xiati continue to push out from the middle as the main Alliance continues to fill in all remaining colonizable targets elsewhere.
