Space Empires news from 2024.

09 March 2024:

The Balance Mod v125 Gamma has been posted. The gamma is quite stable for game play and you can continue your beta games with no issues. Quite a number of fixes have been made from the beta plus a bunch of AI fixes and enhancements. There's still some more AI scripting work ahead before the final v1.25 release. 28 February 2024:

Today is the 19th anniversary since the Space Empires Depot moved to its own domain and overall it's been almost 21 years the site has existed in some form. As time has gone on since the last game was released, other Space Empires community sites have slowly disappeared. There's not really that many active today and with the loss of Fyron's site most recently, the need to preserve the work of the Space Empires community has become more urgent. In the last few weeks, I've started adding a bunch of files under the Space Empires 4 and Space Empires 5 sections. You'll start seeing some mods (SE4 first) and more ship sets over the coming weeks as I worked through the files I have. I'll continue to keep the site up and running for many years to come. It's up to you guys to recruit new young players to the game while it's still playable with today's "modern OSes".

25 February 2024:

Progress continues on the Balance Mod v125+ update. If you're on the Balance Discord server, weekly cumulative progress patches have been posted on the server capturing all the changes since the Beta was posted on December 24th. If you're already on Discord, just click HERE to get on the server. Besides endless debate and beta patches, there's also a highlights channel capturing action from my test game as the Terran Confederation.

I continue to add various downloads to the SE:IV and SE:V sections. There's about 15 SE:V sets and about 30 SE:IV sets posted plus some utilities for each game. I'll be adding mods and more races as I work through the massive archives of files. Thanks to all who contributed so far!

11 February 2024:

I've started adding some Space Empires downloads to the website for both Space Empires IV and V. So far it's just been utilities for Space Empires V which you can view HERE. Just getting started with uploading SE:IV race styles HERE. Thanks to the community I have a ton of files that I'm working through and uploading plus making templates to help with the presentation.

With the recent loss of the Spaceempires.net website, I've decided to upgrade my website plan so I can start hosting a lot more general Space Empires downloads. I need your help to start collecting ship sets and utilities. You can use the HERE to get in touch with me. You can also reach me via the Balance Mod or Space Empires discord servers.

Work continues on the Balance Mod v125+ release. The beta is available and if you're on the Balance Mod discord server, extra WIP patches are made available weekly. You can also follow along one of my test games where I'm the Terran Confederation playing on the Balance Mod's local Milky Way map.
